When the state posts a STIP for public comment on STIP Manager, it lands on STIP Viewer, a public facing application equipped to display the necessary projects and collect comments. Both the Draft STIP and revisions for the Active STIP can be posted to STIP Viewer for public comment. Messages will appear in the STIP Viewer Banner if a STIP has been posted for public comment. The image below shows an example of both the Draft STIP and a STIP revision being open for comments.
Submit Comments
There are two ways to submit comments in STIP Viewer: submit comments for the overall STIP or submit comments for a specific project.
Comments for STIP
To submit a comment for the overall STIP, the user must click the "here" link in the STIP Viewer banner. "Here" links automatically update the map and displayed data to reflect the projects within the selected STIP/Revision. Once selected, the message will update to read, "Click here to submit a general comment", allowing the user access to the "Submit Comment" pop-up. In this pop-up, the user must at least fill in the Comment field before selecting "Submit". The other fields are optional unless the user wishes to receive a response back (Request Response checkbox); then, they must also enter their name and email. Once the "Submit" button is selected, this feedback will be sent to STIP Manager for the state's consideration.
Comments for Project
To submit a comment for a specific project, the user must first navigate to it. This can be accomplished by selecting a Project ID link in the Search Results table or selecting a point on the map. The "Submit Comments" button here will open the "Submit Comment" pop-up for the user.
This version of the "Submit Comment" pop-up will be the same in appearance to the general version, except a Project ID will be provided since this comment is being made for a specific project. As previously mentioned, the user must at least fill in the Comment field before selecting "Submit". The other fields are optional unless the user wishes to receive a response back (Request Response checkbox); then, they must also enter their name and email. Once the "Submit" button is selected, this feedback will be sent to STIP Manager for the state's consideration.
