To find Projects, the user can utilize the Map and Search Results table.
Map
The Map is an interactive element in STIP Viewer. This tool composes the majority of the application's screen and allows the user to see projects contained in a Draft STIP or specific Active STIP revisions, zoom to them, and view their general data.
Map Tools
The Map will display the whole state with all projects in the selected STIP/Revision (STIP picklist, Search Pane) mapped by default. Its appearance can be altered by the Search Filters or the seven available controls:
| Control | Description |
| Find | Enter a street name, route name, city, county, or other relevant address/place in the textbox to locate it on the map. Once entered, the user can click the icon ( |
| Map Layers | Select one or more map layers to display on the Map Frame. The user can make a layer visible by selecting the icon ( The second tab in this pop-up, Legend, displays the currently visible Map Layers and their appearance on the map for reference. |
| Basemaps | View a list of available basemaps. Basemaps change the background/appearance of the map. |
Specify the details for a print through the available pop-up and its tabs.
| |
| Default Map View | Zoom the map to its original distance and focal point (state boundary). |
| Zoom In | Zoom in by clicking this button beside the Legend. |
| Zoom Out | Zoom out by clicking this button beside the Legend. |
Mapped Projects
The projects displayed on the map are determined by the filter selections in the Search Pane. When filters are filled and the "Find" button is selected, the map will reflect the projects contained in the chosen STIP, Revision (if applicable), and additional criteria. Below is an example of the map with less projects because the Search Filters are stricter (STIP = 2024-2029 (A), Revision = Original (A), and Control No. contains "12").
Map Pop-Up
If the user clicks on a mapped project, a map pop-up will appear. This pop-up will display the Project ID, Other ID, County, Total Programmed, and Construction Year(s) for the selected project. It will also provide access to the Project Summary Report and the Submit Comment pop-up for the specific project.
If more than one entry exists near the selected location, the user can toggle through them by using the navigation arrows or Select Feature tool. If the user clicks the Select Feature tool (), a list will appear that allows the user to click the nearby project that they wish to view. Once a project is selected, the map will automatically center this project and display its information in the map pop-up.
There are also two icons which affect the map pop-up itself:
| Icon | Description |
| This icon collapses the map pop-up to only show the Project ID, navigational tools (arrows/Select Feature), and these two icons. | |
| This icon allows the user to exit out of the map pop-up. |
Search Results
Search Results will also appear on the Map frame. This table provides more information about the displayed projects than is available on the map pop-up. The Search Results table is connected to the map, allowing the user to select a row on the table and see it visually on the map. If a row is selected in the table, it will be highlighted, and the map will zoom to the related project. This connection goes both ways, so the user can also click on a mapped project to find its row in the Search Results table.
Other than the selectable rows, the Search Results table has two controls: collapse and close. These are located in the top righthand corner of the table, and they allow the user to more fully see the map (collapse) or see it entirely without limitations (close).
